Frequently Asked Questions
What is regenerative medicine?
Regenerative medicine uses your body’s own healing ability, through treatments like PRP and Lipogems, to repair damaged tissue and relieve pain without surgery.
What is the difference between PRP and Lipogems?
PRP uses platelets from your own blood to support healing in tendons and joints. Lipogems uses your own fat tissue and is generally used for more significant joint damage. Both can be combined for added effect.
Is regenerative medicine covered by insurance?
Some treatments, such as certain PRP injections, are covered by insurers depending on your policy. Others, including Lipogems and Tenex, are not typically covered. We recommend checking with your insurer before booking.
Is there any downtime after treatment?
Most regenerative treatments have minimal downtime, and many patients return to normal activity the same day. Your clinician will give you specific aftercare advice based on your procedure.
What imaging do you use before treatment, and why?
Depending on your condition, we may use MRI, X-ray, ultrasound or a DEXA bone density scan to confirm the diagnosis before recommending a treatment. This ensures the injection or procedure targets the exact structure causing your pain rather than guessing based on symptoms alone.
Does the follow-up after Lipogems or Tenex happen in person?
Follow-up after Lipogems includes a telemedicine consultation as standard, so we can check your progress without requiring another clinic visit. Further in-person follow-up is arranged if your recovery needs closer monitoring.
How do you decide between a facet joint, sacroiliac or medial branch block injection for back pain?
These target different structures in the spine. A medial branch block is often used diagnostically to confirm the exact joint causing pain before further treatment, while facet and sacroiliac injections are used once the source of pain has been identified through consultation, examination and imaging.
Why is PRP often given as a package of three sessions rather than one?
A single PRP injection can help, but tendon and joint tissue typically responds better to a course of injections spaced a few weeks apart, allowing the growth factors to stimulate healing in stages. That is why we offer PRP as a three-session package alongside single injections.
How does radiofrequency ablation give long-lasting pain relief?
The procedure uses gentle heat delivered through a fine needle to disable the specific nerves sending pain signals from a joint or the spine to your brain. Relief typically lasts several months to over a year, and the treatment can be repeated if the nerve regenerates.
